Tianran Qian works in social media for art and cultural institutions, including Independent Art Fair, Making Their Mark Foundation, Canyon Museum, among others. She also works as a production coordinator in the creative industry, having collaborated on projects with Bulgari, BMW, Tencent, MAC, and others. Previously, she worked as a digital talent agent at OUTPUT in Shanghai, specializing in new media and creative technologies. She was also on the Management Track at the WME Fashion Incubator.
She is also a transdisciplinary creative practitioner. Her work investigates the aesthetic mediation of digital writing, the materiality of artificial intelligence, as well as independent space-making and organizing practices. Her multimedia projects encompass independent publishing, photography, installation, writing, and workshops.
She holds an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design at The New School, and a BA in Contemporary Culture and Creative Production from New York University. Tianran is the recipient of the 2023 India China Institute Student Fellowship, the Parsons Graduate Research Award, and the NYU Changemaker Social Impact Award, among others. Her projects have been showcased with artist collective Sequence Giftshop at Pioneer Works, Brooklyn Art Book Fair, Carnegie Museum of Art and so on through self-publishing.
Tianran was born in Hangzhou, China, and currently based in New York.
